Unit 1 – Chemistry
Essential Outcome #1
Students are introduced to atomic structure, the Periodic Table of the Elements and ionic and molecular compounds.

Essential Outcome #2
Students will learn to write and balance chemical equations and to identify types of reactions.

Essential Outcome #3
Students will learn and experience the properties of acids and bases and the pH scale.
Unit 2 – Ecosystems
Essential Outcome #1
Students will learn how living and non living objects interact in the environment.

Essential Outcome #2
Students will understand how matter cycles in nature and how toxins accumulate in organisms.

Students are required to do a project on an environmental issue.

Unit 3 – Physics
Essential Outcome #1
Students will learn basic measurements and conversions and rearranging formulas.

Students will understand speed and be able to use the formula to calculate distance, time or speed of an object. Also, they will draw distance-time graphs and analyze them mathematically.

Students will be introduced to acceleration and used the formula associated with it. They will also draw speed-time graphs and analyze them.
